Constitution Class Refit (USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A)

The Constitution Refit for Star Trek: Continuum I feel is one of my best works. I guess being that this is my favorite of the Star Trek ships. So I may be a little biased ;) I just wanted to make sure I got it right. I carefully studied Blueprints, Studio Model photos, and Paint guides. I almost went over my self imposed poly budget. Which was 30,000 tri's. The model is just over 29,000 tri's. The blueprints I used for reference were from an artist named "Big Jim Slade", and i think it is safe to say that he nailed it. I also bought, and used the 1/350 plastic model paint guide from TrekModeler to make the textures. Plus there is a lot of "eyeball" from studio model photos, and screen caps.

This model is configured as the 1701-A. Not the refit 1701. The 1701 refit from ST:TMP had a totally different color scheme. Plus she also had finish that was very glossy, and reflective. While that paint job looked totally awesome, it was bad for filming at the time, and ST:TMP is the only movie that we ever saw that paint scheme. Since TMP the studio model was painted over several times over the years, The original glossy finish was literally destroyed, and replaced with a dull, flat, and lusterless paint scheme. This model represents the "final" paint scheme, and configuration as seen on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

I also tried to duplicate the "Self Illumination" effects with mixed results. It looks great in renders, but it looks absolutely horrible in game. So the model has no self illumination in game. No ship in Star Trek: Continuum has Self Illumination, because the glow shader interferes with the specular, and reflection shaders, and it totally ruins the look of the model.

There are some low poly flaws, but you can not see them unless you zoom in really close. So zoom in at your own risk ;) I can always add more triangles later. Overall this is a fun ship to work with.
